2G and 3G Have Switched Off
From 23 March 2026, our 2G and 3G network and services are no longer available.
If your phone or device relies on 2G or 3G, you will need to replace it.
Your phone may already be using 4G or 5G for calling or data. However, to ensure full 4G/5G connectivity, please follow the steps below.
We’ve contacted impacted customers based on our records (which may not always be perfect). We highly recommend that you free TXT 3G to 550 from your phone to triple‑check your device status.
What Can I Do Now?

TXT 3G to 550 from your phone. You’ll receive a TXT explaining:
- How your phone is affected, and
- What (if anything) you need to do next.
Using this SMS service is optional.
If you don’t have a compatible phone or can’t send texts, you won’t be able to use this service and will need an approved phone instead.
Update Your Phone Settings
- Download and install the latest phone software updates.

Enable 4G/5G and VoLTE (4G Calling) in your phone settings (if available).
A software update usually enables this on newer phones.
- Check if your phone supports VoLTE using the VoLTE phones list.
- Restart your phone once completed.
Tip: Turning on WiFi Calling may help. This allows you to make voice calls over WiFi when available. Learn how to enable it here.
Upgrade Your Phone (If Needed)
If your device doesn’t support VoLTE or 4G calling:
- You won’t be able to make calls or use data when travelling overseas.
Don’t worry—there are plenty of eligible phones available that will work on the network.
How to Update Your iPhone Settings
- Swipe down from the main screen and open Settings
- Select Mobile
- Tap Mobile Data Options
- Select Voice & Data
- Ensure 4G or 5G is selected

Ensure VoLTE is turned on
Note: iPhone 12 and newer models won’t show a VoLTE toggle
- Restart your phone
How to Update Your Android Phone Settings
- Swipe down from the main screen and open Settings
- Select Connections
- Tap Mobile Networks
- Turn VoLTE calls on
- Ensure 4G/5G Network mode is selected
- Restart your phone
Xiaomi Phones – Enable VoLTE
- Open the Phone app
- Dial *#*#86583#*#*
- Confirm the message: “VoLTE carrier check disabled”
- Go to Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks
- Select your active Kogan Mobile NZ SIM
- Toggle Use VoLTE ON (if not already enabled)
- Restart your phone
Alcatel 3082 Flip Phone – Update Phone Software
- Select Menu > Settings
- Scroll down and select Update > Check for updates
- If an update is available, select Download
- Once downloaded, select Install and Agree
- Repeat these steps until the software version shows “010 08”
